OR
Thanks for joining me today. Honestly the calories don't count when it's just the photo you're looking at (smile). I would so love to hear from you so please feel free to leave a comment. It's always welcomed and appreciated.
Killer Chocolate Pecan Pie
Doesn't this just look sinfully delicious!! Well it is!!
Killer Chocolate Pecan Pie
½ (15 oz. package)refrigerated pie crusts ( or one homemade unbaked piecrust)
4 large eggs
1 cup light corn syrup
6 Tablespoons butter
½ cup sugar
¼ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1 cup (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips, melted
*Hot fudge sauce drizzle (garnish - recipe follows)
*Sweetened Whip Cream (garnish)
*Chocolate curls or shavings (garnish - tutorial follows)
Fit piecrust into a lightly greased 9 inch pie plate according to package directions, being careful to press together any cracks. Fold edges under and crimp.
Whisk together eggs and next 7 ingredients until blended; Stir in pecans and melted chocolate. Pour filling into piecrust. (Note: 3 T. Bourbon can be added to filling if desired. I personally don't like the taste of bourbon so leave it out.)
Bake on lowest oven rack at 350 degrees for one hour or until set, shielding pie with aluminum foil after 20 minutes. Cool completely on a wired rack.
Top with a drizzle of hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and chocolate curls. From: Southern Living.
While the pie is baking I prepare my hot fudge sauce. I have made both of these recipes and they are both delicious. It depends on what I have on hand when I'm making the sauce. Also I have substituted GOOD quality chocolate chips for the chocolate when I'm in a pinch.
Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce -1
2/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 oz fine-quality bittersweet chocolate (not unsweetened), finely chopped
3 tablespoons butter, cut into bits
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Bring cream, corn syrup, sugar, cocoa, salt, and half of chocolate to a boil in a 1 to 1 1/2-quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat, stirring, until chocolate is melted. Reduce heat and cook at a low boil, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes, then remove from heat. Add butter, vanilla, and remaining chocolate and stir until smooth. Cool sauce to warm before serving. Adapted from Gourmet.OR
Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce-2
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
4 - 6 (1 ounce) squares semisweet or bittersweet chocolate
2 tablespoons butter (no substitutes)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
In a heavy saucepan, combine the milk, chocolate and butter. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until chocolate is melted. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. From: All Recipes.com
To make the Chocolate Curls, You will need:
A vegetable peeler
A giant Hershey's Chocolate Bar
Open chocolate bar and with the vegetable peeler run the peeler along the narrow edge of the bar. (see photos.)
Put chocolate curls on the whipped cream and the plate. (see photo)

Oh my! You wouldn't by chance have a spare napkin would you, Nann? I have a little something on my chin.
This pie looks absolutely to die for! I have become such a chocoholic in my old age... I think this would fit the bill for ANY craving I might have. I can't wait to make it!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for the lovely comment. I'm already following through GFC, but I'm now following through Linky Followers too!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Oh Nann! You've outdone yourself this time. I'm with Mary. I need a napkin too because I'm drooling! I'm so going to try this (I know I shouldn't).

This looks more than sinful...it looks downright dangerous! I think I could eat the whole thisn by mysefl. Found you on Wow Us Wednesdays, and n
have joined your blog. Patsy
Absolutely decadent! No temptation for me, though. I gave up desserts and chocolate for Lent.
Nann, I do appreciate you stopping by my blog, and your lovely comments. Welcome to my blogging family! My granddaughter , her sweet hubby, and my great-grandson are coming to visit next weekend...and I am going to make this wicked pie! xo Patsy
Wow, Nann, want to know a really bizarre coincidence?
I had a dinner party recently and my brother brought (bought though) a chocolate pecan pie......I had never even heard of it, let alone tasted one before.....
And now, thanks to you I will know how to MAKE one!
YUMMMMY!!!!!
Have a blessed weekend, dear friend!
That almost looks too pretty to eat...but then again I would enjoy eating it. If that doesn't satisfy someones chocolate craving--nothing would! Have a great weekend.
Jeepers, this looks good!
I wanted to thank you for visiting my blog today and sharing such a valuable piece of advice. It is comforting to have a "newby" blogger friend in such a big blog world.
This looks absolutely amazing!! Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Good Morning! I just got your message on my end. When I have some extra time this weekend, I am going to type up the steps of how to do a few things to your blog. Don't be deceived...I may be in my early 30's but I’m not very computer savvy!!!
My email is: shabbysweettea@yahoo.com If you want, shoot me a quick email so I have yours to respond to with the steps.
Google, Shabby Creations, and a blog should come up. This woman does very reasonable blog work. She is going to be redoing mine next week for me. She doesn’t have it listed but its $40 to have up to 5 social media buttons on your page. I couldn’t figure out how to add Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and email in a clean looking way. So stayed tuned for big changes to my blog!
We are having serious storms in the south today, so painting will probably be out of the question. Have a great Saturday!
Ciao Ciao,
Elyse
Wow! That dessert looks amazing! Are you sure you can't consume calories by just looking?
Omg! I think I am in a chocolate coma! That looks wonderfully decadent!
This looks so good!! OMG I have to try this recipe!
Oh my the recipe looks just sinful, but one I want to try. Thanks for stopping by my blog today with your sweet comments. Yes, I can see we have a lot in common. Love your blog and will be a follower. Your header is beautiful.
Now off to look at more of your posts.

One of my favorites! And...I do chocolate curls the same way. Perhaps we're related? :-)
Seriously, you make everything look so good! My photography skills are not that professional.
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Oh my word, this looks sinfully delicious. I would love some, but that would totally ruin my diet.
When you come to visit your daughter, let me know and hopefully we could meet for lunch. Hugs, Marty
Nann, how can you tempt me this way when I am already craving chocolate today. That dessert looks out of this world good!! The only problem is that I have an allergy to pecans but I think walnuts would work, too. Pecan pie is probably my favorite dessert but I don't have it anymore. I find that although pecans are my first choice, walnuts are fine as a substitute in most recipes. You are the best!!!
Shannon
